Your late evening drive to LAX could be a real nightmare as a stretch of Century Boulevard just east of Los Angeles International Airport will be closed overnight for about two weeks starting Monday while construction continues on a light-rail station at Aviation Boulevard.
Crews working on the station will remove the “falsework” framing that was used for the project.
Beginning Monday night and continuing through Friday, all westbound lanes of Century Boulevard will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. between Aviation Boulevard and Bellanca Avenue, according to Los Angeles World Airports. One lane on the eastbound side will also be closed.
Beginning April 10, the work will shift to the other side of the road, with all eastbound lanes and one westbound lane closed for five consecutive nights.
Travelers heading for LAX during the impacted hours are urged to allow extra travel time and seek out alternate routes. During the westbound closure, motorists can turn north on La Cienega Boulevard from Century Boulevard, then west on Arbor Vitae Street and south on Airport Boulevard back to Boulevard.
During the eastbound closure, motorists can take the same detour in reverse.
