A 38-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday when he jumped or fell from a seaside cliff in San Pedro, authorities said.

Firefighters were dispatched about 1:50 p.m. to the waterline off the 1800 block of West Paseo del Mar, where they found the man conscious and alert, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Witnesses said the victim may have had a “behavioral emergency” prior to his fall or jump down a cliff that was steep but not sheer, Humphrey said.

The unidentified man was taken to a hospital for treatment of moderate to serious injuries, Humphrey said.
