The 21st edition of the CicLAvia open-streets festival will be held Sunday along a new route, this time stretching from Atwater Village into downtown Glendale.
The three-mile route begins at Glendale and Glenfeliz boulevards, continues along San Fernando Road, Central Avenue to Wilson Avenue, then to Brand Boulevard and north to Doran Street.
The event will begin with an 8:30 a.m. news conference in front of the Alex Theatre featuring dignitaries such as county Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Glendale Mayor Vartan Gharpetian, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Glendale Councilman Ara Najarian.
Three “hubs” will be located along the route — one in Atwater Village, another along Central south of Colorado Street and another on Brand south of Doran.
Along with providing open streets for people on bikes, skateboards or by foot, the event will include a rock-climbing wall, a bike helmet giveaway, photo booth, carnival games, a farmers market, food trucks and music.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
