
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Monday for the sixth consecutive day and 10th time in 11 days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $2.96.
The average price has increased 5.6 cents over the past 11 days, including 1.1 cents on Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. A gallon costs 4.2 cents more than one week ago, 3.6 cents more than one month ago and 19 cents more than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose for the fifth consecutive day and 10th time in 12 days, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $2.932. It has risen 6.9 cents over the past 12 days, including 1 cent on Sunday.
The Orange County average price is 4.6 cents more than one week ago, 4.1 cents higher than one month ago and 18.5 cents above what it was one year ago.
“Gasoline inventories are now being affected by summer fuel demand, both in Southern California and nationwide,” Marie Montgomery of the Automobile Club of Southern California told City News Service. “Oil industry analysts are not expecting increases to extend beyond the summer as long as refinery operations remain normal.”
