Firefighters Friday rescued a terrified 2-year-old boy who was wedged between a wrought-iron gate and a block wall at an apartment complex in Northridge.
The toddler got stuck when the horizontally rolling gate closed about noon in the 17800 block of Superior Street, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Rescuers de-energized the electric motor powering the mechanism, cut away some bars, and quickly freed the child, he said.
“The boy was given comfort and reassurance,” Humphrey said.
The child was examined at the scene and apparently was unhurt, he said.
No further details were available, and it wasn’t known if his relatives were on hand during the rescue.
