Wilacre Park, home to popular hiking trails in the hills of Studio City, will be closed beginning Tuesday and continuing through Jan. 5, 2018, for upgrades to restrooms and park accessibility.
“The park’s trails will be closed to the public during this period to allow crews the opportunity to safely complete improvements to restrooms and increase access to parking and recreational facilities for guests with limited mobility,” said Ana Straabe, chief of park development for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
“We recognize and understand that the temporary closure will cause some disruption, and are actively working to reduce any inconvenience while providing park users with alternative options for outdoor experiences during the closure period,” Straabe said. “…MRCA will be updating Wilacre Park’s parking lot to become ADA-compliant and wheelchair-accessible, in addition to improving access to picnic tables located at the trailhead. Crews will also be installing permanent bathroom and washroom fixtures, which will include new toilets, bathroom stalls and sinks to provide guests with a fully operational facility.”
The park is located at 3431 Fryman Road, and includes the Betty B. Dearing and the U-Vanu hiking trails, along with access to Fryman Canyon Park, Coldwater Canyon Park and Franklin Canyon Park.
