Los Angeles International Airport has experienced a total of 15 flight cancellations Friday as a result of the preparations for Hurricane Irma in Florida.

The cancellations include five arrivals and 10 departures, as well as two delays, according to Frederick Badlissi, a spokesman for Los Angeles World Airports. All were for flights in and out of Florida.

Badlissi also said it was too early to have a number for potential cancellations over the weekend and the airport would not likely have a total until Saturday.

Irma is responsible for at least nine deaths throughout the Caribbean and caused severe damage to St. Martin and the British Virgin Islands. The Category 4 storm is expected to reach the Florida coast early Sunday.
