The California Highway Patrol’s “CHiPs for Kids” toy drive for the Coachella Valley’s needy children begins Friday, starting with an event in Palm Desert.

The monthlong drive starts at 1 p.m. at the Walgreens at 44840 Monterey Avenue. Anyone who wishes to donate is asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy.

Those who cannot make it to the Palm Desert drive may donate toys through Dec. 18 to any Walgreens in the Coachella Valley, Mathis Brothers Furniture in Indio or the CHP Indio Office.
