A section of Sepulveda Boulevard in the Encino and Sherman Oaks areas will be reduced to one lane in each direction over the next few weeks — weather permitting — as part of a natural gas pipeline safety enhancement project, authorities said Monday.
The work will affect Sepulveda Boulevard between Royal Woods Drive and Valley Meadow Road weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to the Southern California Gas Co. But because of rainy weather, there will be no lane closures Monday and possibly through mid-week, according to a SoCalGas representative.
The work is scheduled to be conducted, weather permitting, through Feb. 21, according to the utility. No interruption to natural gas service is anticipated.
The effort is part of SoCalGas’ Pipeline Safety Enhancement Plan, a multibillion-dollar program that tests and updates the natural gas pipeline infrastructure in Southern California.
