A water main break in Palm Springs sent torrents of water shooting up into the air and flooded a portion of Indian Canyon Drive Thursday, leading authorities to shut down the roadway to motorists.
The leak was reported just before 11 a.m. near Indian Canyon and San Rafael drives, with the heaviest flooding reported along Indian Canyon. Water in the roadway was reported as far south as Racquet Club Drive.
Palm Springs police and fire personnel diverted traffic in the area until the leak could be brought under control. Drivers near that stretch of Indian Canyon were advised to use caution.
