A brush fire in the hills above Stevenson Ranch was 50 percent contained Tuesday after blackening 128 acres.

The three-alarm fire erupted for unknown reasons shortly after 1 p.m. Monday near the 26000 block of Pico Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Air crews were sent along with ground crews to battle the flames. No structures were threatened, but some workers at an oil field in the area were evacuated.

Three firefighters suffered minor heat-related injuries, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. The temperature in the area was reported at 106 degrees when the fire broke out.
