Max Muncy hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 18th inning early Saturday to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 3-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium, the longest World Series game.

The victory cuts Boston’s lead to two games to one in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 will be played later Saturday at Dodger Stadium.

There had been 14-inning games in the 1916, 2005 and 2015 Series, the previous record.

The game took a record, seven hours, 20 minutes to play. The previous longest World Series game by time was Game 3 of the 2005 Series, which took five hours and 41 minutes to play.
