A motorcyclist killed in a solo accident on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Granada Hills was a Pacoima resident, authorities said Monday.

The 43-year-old man was northbound on the Golden State Freeway at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, on the truck route north of Balboa Boulevard, when he “failed to properly negotiate a sweeping right curve in the roadway,” California Highway Patrol Officer A. Mendoza said. The rider lost control of the 2004 Yamaha and was ejected, Mendoza said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

DUI was not considered a factor in the crash, the officer said.

The man has been identified but his next of kin were not immediately notified, the coroner’s office said.
