Thousands of people will take to the streets Sunday for the city’s 36th annual gay pride march and the conclusion of the two-day Long Beach Pride 2019 Festival.
The parade steps off at Ocean Boulevard and Lindero Avenue at 10:30 a.m, with a pre-parade “hot spot” kicking off an hour earlier at Bixby Park on Ocean and Cherry Avenue. Activities there will include interactive crows games and high-energy music.
The parade winds up at Ocean and Alamitos Avenue.
Kate Linder, who has played Esther Valentine on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” for 37 years, will be the grand marshal.
Sunday is also the conclusion of the two-day festival at the downtown marina at 450 E. Shoreline Drive.
Musicians and dancers will be performing from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the Nissan Stage, the Dance Stage, the Country Stage and the Estrella Jalisco Stage.
Links for each stage schedule can be found at longbeachpride.com/2019-festival/.
The first annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Festival & Parade occurred in June 1984.
