Firefighters put out a 1/4-acre brush fire Friday in the Beverly Crest area of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 3:04 a.m. at the Mulholland overlook at 8800 West Mulholland Dr., Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

It took firefighters 36 minutes to put out the flames and clear vegetation around the fire zone, working from the top and bottom of the canyon, Stewart said. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters planned to remain on the scene to put out hot spots, she said.
