A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was hospitalized in unknown condition Saturday morning following a crash on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach.
The accident occurred near the Lakewood Boulevard exit at 10:15 p.m., according to the CHP.
The officer’s injuries were not considered serious, the CHP said.
Media reports from the scene said a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter landed on the freeway and the downed officer was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
All lanes of the southbound San Diego Freeway were closed at Cherry Avenue until at least 2 a.m. while an investigation into the crash was underway, the CHP said.
