Firefighters scrambled Saturday morning to extinguish a fire hidden in a high-rise apartment building in downtown Los Angeles.
Crews responded to the 700 block of Broadway at 2:30 a.m. and were given an inexact location of a fire that stayed hidden while they searched multiple floors of several buildings before spotting the problem on the sixth floor of a building located at 710 Broadway, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Once the fire was located, firefighters quickly “drop bagged” a hose line — pulled the hose up from the ground, up through a balcony or fire escape with a rope — and extinguished a small fire, Prange said.
“There was evidence of construction in the area, but the definite cause of the fire remains unknown,” Prange said.
No injuries were reported.
