Firefighters Thursday rescued a man in distress from the Sepulveda Basin in Van Nuys, authorities said.
It was reported at 1:36 a.m. in 3 to 6 feet of water in the flood control basin at 15700 West Burbank Blvd., Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The 52-year-old man was located at 2:15 a.m. and brought to safety and evaluated for potential hypothermia, Stewart said.
An LAFD helicopter was searching the area to be sure no other people needed rescue, she said.
