All lanes of the southbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Palmdale were reopened Friday more than 14 hours after a big rig struck the right-shoulder wall and went down an embankment.
The solo-vehicle crash was reported at 4:37 a.m. near Pearblossom Highway, the California Highway Patrol said.
One witness told the CHP there was black ice in the roadway.
Throughout the day, the No. 2 and 3 lanes remained closed and the No. 1 lane was also shut down while a tow truck got into place, the CHP reported.
Caltrans was also contacted to repair about 200 feet of guardrail damage and some missing sections, according to the CHP.
All lanes were reopened at 6:46 p.m., the CHP reported. No injuries were reported.
