A fire in the kitchen of a house in Lake Balboa was extinguished in 13 minutes by 30 firefighters Sunday evening.

The fire in the one-story house in the 6800 block of Jellico Avenue, near Vanowen Street, was reported at 6:43 p.m., according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No occupants were found during a primary search, but firefighters did rescue a dog from inside the structure, Prange said. The dog was described by Prange as being in good spirits after being rescued and did not appear to need medical attention.
