Sony’s “Bad Boys For Life” has claimed the top spot at the North American box office, taking in $73.4 million over the four-day holiday weekend, according to revised industry estimates out Monday.
It was a better than expected opening for the latest film in the buddy-cop franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, and far ahead of Universal’s “Dolittle,” which finished second with $29.5 million Friday through Monday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.
Universal’s “1917” — in its fourth weekend — earned $26.8 million for third place.
“Jumanji: The Next Level” was fourth with $12.8 million, followed by “Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker” with $10.5 million.
Rounding out the 10 top-grossing films of the weekend were “Little Women” ($8.2 million), “Just Mercy” ($7.5 million), “Frozen 2” ($5.3 million), “Knives Out” ($5.3 million) and “Like a Boss” ($5.8 million).
