A man in his late 30s to 40s suffered moderate burn injuries and was listed in serious condition at an area hospital from a fire Sunday at a back storage shed at a home in Shadow Hills that contained ammunition.

“The homeowner reported ammunition was stored in the shed, which explains the noise heard by neighbors,” said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters dispatched at 6:18 a.m. to the 9000 block of North Sunland Boulevard had the fire out within 16 minutes of their arrival, Stewart said.

“The fire appears to be accidental in nature with no malicious intent,” she said.
