A brush fire that started in wood chips in Lancaster Sunday evening spread to 1 acre while firefighters established a perimeter and warned that wind could cause it to spread.

The fire was reported at 9:36 p.m. at 49155 Three Points Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fire was a half-acre, burning wood chips and brush when firefighters arrived. It had spread to 1 acre by 10:42 p.m., fire officials said.

Firefighters were working to establish a perimeter around the flames and called for foam with which to cover the wood chip pile, officials said.
