Authorities Thursday identified a motorist who was killed in a head-on crash involving two pickup trucks in Palmdale.

The collision was reported at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 170th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Oscar Portillo, 39, of Palmdale died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

Portillo was driving a 2007 Nissan Frontier south on 170th Street East when it collided with a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 that was northbound on 170th Street East, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The driver of the Dodge, a 60-year-old man from Llano, was taken to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, the Dodge swerved into the path of the Nissan.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call the CHP Antelope Valley Area office at 661-948-8541.
