A section of Mulholland Drive was closed Friday in the Hollywood Hills after a truck carrying tanks of water and a “soil fumigant” overturned.
The crash occurred about 8 a.m. in the 8300 block of West Mulholland Drive, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The “medium-weight tanker” truck contained 500 gallons of water in one tank and 60 gallons of diluted “Metam Sodium … often used as a soil fumigant,” the LAFD said in a statement.
“Some of the product spilled onto the roadway,” the LAFD reported. “The spill … is expected to have minimal environmental impact.”
The trucker suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. Mulholland Drive was closed between Coldwater Canyon Drive and Laurel Canyon Boulevard while crews worked to clear the scene, causing major traffic backups in the area.
