An electrical fire that began outside an apartment building in Van Nuys spread into one unit Tuesday morning before firefighters extinguished the flames.
Crews responded to 6851 Sepulveda Boulevard, north of Vanowen Street, about 5 a.m., and saw heavy fire coming from one unit of the three-story complex, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The address corresponds to the Sherman Pointe Apartments.
“This was an exterior fire at an electrical panel that extended into one unit,” Stewart said.
The fire did not spread “beyond the one unit on the first floor,” she said.
A total of 26 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and a knockdown was declared at 5:24 a.m., Stewart said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
