A 71-year-old man with dementia and diabetes was missing Wednesday morning.
Freddie Phillips was last seen about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Compton Boulevard and Long Beach Boulevard in Compton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Phillips is described as black, 6 feet tall, weighing 170 pounds, with brown eyes and a bald head, the sheriff’s department reported. He was last seen wearing a black Adidas sweater, gray pants and dark shoes.
Authorities circulated a photo of Phillips and encouraged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500. Those wishing to report anonymously can call 800-222-TIPS.
The CHP issued a Silver Alert for Phillips Tuesday evening.
The purpose of the Silver Alert program is to establish a quick response system designed to issue and coordinate alerts following the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of an elderly person, or a person who is developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired, according to the CHP.
