Firefighters extinguished an outside rubbish fire and two other fires that burned portions of two nearby homes Monday evening in the Pico Union area, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The outside fire located at 1147 S. Alvarado St. was reported at 8:24 p.m., said Nicholas Prange, a Los Angeles Fire Department public service officer.
That fire spread to portions of nearby two-story and three-story homes, Prange said.
The department sent 50 firefighters to the scene and knocked down all the flames in about 29 minutes, Prange said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fires were still being investigated, Prange said.
