A fire broke out in a fourplex in Chinatown Wednesday, but firefighters extinguished the flames in just over half an hour without injuries.
The fire was reported about 5 p.m. in the two-story fourplex in the 800 block of North Cleveland Street, near West College Street. It started in a unit and spread to the building’s attic, causing a partial roof collapse, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Fifty-one firefighters extinguished the flames, and the fire was out about 5:30 p.m., Prange said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and further information was not released.
