A motorist was killed Wednesday when his car collided with a big rig and overturned on the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Irwindale.
Juan Carlos Recendez, 23, of Baldwin Park died at the scene of the crash about 2:10 a.m. near Lower Azusa Road, according to the coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.
Recendez was driving a 2016 Mazda 6 that slammed into the rear of the big rig, whose driver was not injured, the CHP reported.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
