A Delta Air Lines Airbus a320 flight landed safely at LAX Thursday after having a “potential maintenance issue” in the air.
Delta Air Lines flight 2742 took off from Kansas City and landed at LAX, which was the scheduled destination, about 5:30 p.m.
Olivia Mayes of Delta Air Lines said the flight experienced a “potential maintenance issue” in the air, but did not elaborate.
“The flight is now at the gate, and Delta maintenance technicians are evaluating the aircraft,” Mayes said around 6:20 p.m.
According to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department, fire crews were at the scene for the landing as a precaution.
“Last year there were 182 runway standbys, that’s about 3.5 per week,” Humphrey said. “They’re almost always unremarkable.”
