
One of two girls trapped in their bedroom Thursday in a Pomona apartment fire died and the other was critically injured, authorities said.
Nearly two dozen firefighters were sent to the 1100 block of East Franklin Avenue about 10:35 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The girls were trapped in their bedroom, with the front door blocked by fire and the windows blocked by furniture and an exterior mounted window A/C unit, according to fire officials.
One of the girls died at the scene, and the other was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, the fire department reported. Their names and ages were not immediately released.
A woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
