Crews were hampered by “excessive storage conditions” Thursday in fighting a non-injury blaze that damaged a house in the Granada Hills area, a fire department official said.

Firefighters sent to the 15900 block of West McKeever Street about 9:30 a.m. extinguished the bulk of the flames in about a half-hour, but some personnel remained on scene dousing hot spots.

“Firefighters encountered excessive storage conditions inside the structure, which created challenges reaching the seat of the fire,” said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “They continue to reach small pockets of fire and it will be an extended duration overhaul.”

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
