A fire broke out Thursday afternoon in a downtown commercial building, which had no roof due to a previous fire, but no injuries were reported.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the blaze, which started about 2:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of East Newton Street, near Hooper Avenue and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway.
Thirty firefighters extinguished the flames in 12 minutes, and nearby structures were not damaged, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
