It took firefighters nearly 80 minutes Saturday to put out flames that engulfed the garage of a Tarzana home and spread to the attic and living space, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 4:11 p.m. at 4817 North Hasekian Drive, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Arriving firefighters saw flames coming from the garage of the 3,051-square-foot house, built in 1955, and extending into the living space and attic, Prange said.
Efforts were made more challenging by difficulty accessing a double attic, he said. Most of the flames were out earlier but firefighters had to ventilate both attics to put out the entire fire by 5:28 p.m.
One occupant was in the home when the fire started but managed to get and call
911, Prange said. No injuries were reported and the cause was under investigation.
