A 64-year-old man with dementia and diabetes was found Tuesday after going missing in Lynwood, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.

William Hinton was reported missing after being last seen about noon Tuesday near Carlin Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol, which issued the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The CHP reported about 8:50 p.m. that the Silver Alert was deactivated and Hinton had been located, but they did not provide further information.

The Silver Alert program was established to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of elderly, developmentally disabled and cognitively impaired individuals, according to the CHP.
