A slow-moving brush fire Saturday burned about 1/4 acre near the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Valencia area.
The fire was reported about 2:40 p.m. adjacent to the southbound Golden State Freeway near Gavin Canyon, Los Angeles County Fire Department officials said.
Arriving units reported the vegetation was light to medium and the fire was moving uphill toward the freeway, pushed by light winds. The area was first reported as a half-acre but later fire officials said it was held to a quarter-acre.
A Firehawk paramedic helicopter returning from a medical transport was able to quickly drop water on the wildfire, authorities said.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 2:43 p.m. shutting down lanes 2 and 3. That was changed at 3:07 p.m. to lanes 3, 4 and 5. Lane 3 was reopened at 3:18 p.m. Remaining lanes were reopened about 4 p.m.
