Los Angeles county firefighters knocked down a grass fire Sunday that charred about a half an acre of grass in Lancaster.
The blaze ignited near 43151 N. 62nd St. W about 5:35 p.m., said county fire Dispatch Supervisor Melanie Flores.
Firefighters used aerial water drops and ground resources to halt the forward progress of the fire, and although the flames temporarily threatened nearby structures, firefighters managed to protect the buildings, Flores said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation, she said.
