County firefighters knocked down a brush fire that charred about 10 acres of grass in Pomona, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 5:23 p.m. near the westbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway and Fairplex Drive, fire department Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims said.
The blaze was stopped at 10 acres by 7:30 p.m. but county firefighters remained at the scene to mop up hot spots, the department reported.
The department sent nine engines, three water-dropping helicopters, five camp crews and three water tenders, Sims said. The Los Angeles City Fire Department also sent a water-dropping helicopter, which was later released, she added.
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, although one vacant restaurant was temporarily threatened, the department reported.
