Firefighters Saturday knocked down a fire that damaged the walls of a strip mall in Arleta, as well as the attic of a unit at the one-story structure.
Firefighters dispatched at 6:40 a.m. to 14015 W. Van Nuys Blvd. had the blaze out at 7:03 a.m., said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Firefighters were initially challenged in locating all hidden areas of fire extension,” Prange said. “Rooftop ventilation aided in clearing smoke inside, allowing fire crews to work more quickly in achieving a knockdown.”
No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation.
