A grass fire in San Pedro Monday evening burned two acres and was extinguished by firefighters in 39 minutes.
The fire was reported at 9:30 p.m. at 3601 S. Gaffey St., near 36th Street, but no structures were threatened, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Crews have hand lines completely surrounding the burn and there are no spot fires outside of the burn,” Stewart said. “Fire companies will be on scene overhauling any remaining hot spots.”
A knockdown was called at 10:09 p.m., she said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
