Geena Davis and her estranged husband are nearing a resolution of the divorce petition he filed in 2018, court documents obtained Monday show.

Lawyers for the Oscar-winning actress and Dr. Reza Jarrahy held an in-chambers telephone conference with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas last Wednesday. The judge’s clerk later issued a brief minute order.

“Both counsel inform the court that the parties are close to reaching a settlement agreement,” the minute order read.

Jarrahy, a 49-year-old plastic surgeon, filed his petition in May 2018 and is seeking spousal support from the 64-year-old actress, who maintains their marriage was not authentic because Jarrahy’s father was not qualified to marry people under New York law. The former couple are the parents of a 17-year-old daughter and twin 15-year-old sons.

Jarrahy and Davis have been involved in a lengthy trial to determine the validity of the marriage.

Jarrahy’s lead attorney, longtime family law practitioner Stephen A. Kolodny, died May 30 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at age 79. Attorney Heidi Madzar, who worked with Kolodny, represented Jarrahy in the phone conversation with the judge and Davis’ lawyer, Nathalie Paluch.

Another conference is scheduled July 16.
