A brush fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon in Lake View Terrace, but 55 firefighters stopped its spread in under an hour.
The blaze was reported about 5:55 p.m. in the 11800 block of Eldridge Avenue, near Pierce Street, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The flames threatened state and federal land, but no structures, and city fire crews were assisted by Los Angeles County Fire Department and Angeles National Forest fire crews. It was not immediately clear if any state or federal land was scorched.
The fire’s progress was stopped by about 6:45 p.m., after the fire burned about 6 acres, including a 1-acre spot fire, Prange said. No injuries were reported.
Crews remained at the scene Wednesday evening to extinguish hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
