About 80 firefighters battled a three-acre brushfire in a Tarzana neighborhood from the air and on the ground, authorities said Saturday.

The fire was reported at 11:12 p.m. Friday in medium to heavy brush in the 19000 block of Ashurst Lane, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

Firefighters on the scene told nearby residents to evacuate their homes as a precaution until the fire is out, Prange said

The battle lasted 94 minutes, he said. Firefighters protected seven large homes above the fire while surrounding it with lines of cleared vegetation. Firefighters expected to remain on the scene for some time putting out hotspots.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters earlier put out a 400-square-foot grass fire at 3928 North Vanalden Ave. near a golf course in Tarzana with no injuries reported, Prange said.
