Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan announced Thursday that the candidate filing period opens Monday for the Nov. 3 General Election, and the deadline to file nomination papers is Aug. 7 at 5 p.m.
Currently, all RR/CC offices are closed to the public to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, and all candidates looking to file paperwork in person must make an appointment with the Candidate Filing Section prior to visiting the Norwalk headquarters. Alternatively, candidates may also request to receive their paperwork via email or U.S. mail.
All candidates interested in filing must call 1-800-815-2666, option 4, to make an appointment or to coordinate the mail-in alternative.
Logan said candidates are encouraged to review the Candidate Handbook and Resource Guide, which includes a variety of details and critical deadlines to be eligible for the November General Election.
The handbook can be accessed at lavote.net/docs/rrcc/election-info/11032020_Candidate_Handbook.pdf?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term=&v=3.
