Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was killed when the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Chatsworth, leaving his passenger critically injured.
The crash was reported shortly after 8 a.m. Monday in the 21600 block of West Marilla Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Brandon Ibanez Arevalo, 23, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. His city of residence was not known.
The survivor was freed from the wreckage by firefighters and taken to a hospital in critical condition, the LAFD reported.
The circumstances of the crash were under investigation.
