A man was trapped Saturday on a 60-foot-high cliff in San Pedro before firefighters used a rope to rescue him.

The rescue was reported at 6:09 p.m. at 945 N. Gaffey Place, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.

“Ground-based firefighters successfully lowered the uninjured adult male via rope and harness to ground level, where he has declined further care, Humphrey said. “Preliminary reports indicate he was attempting to ascend the cliff for an unknown reason.”
