A man threatening to jump onto the Hollywood (101) Freeway from an overpass at Campo De Cahuenga in North Hollywood was talked down and taken into custody after tying up freeway traffic for hours.
The situation began around 2:20 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man wearing red and hanging onto a fence overlooking the southbound side of the freeway drew CHP units and Los Angeles Fire Department resources to the scene.
The CHP stopped all freeway traffic in both directions and tried to convince the man to come down from his perch. They declared a SigAlert and the fire department set out a crash cushion beneath the overpass.
Around 4:15 p.m., the man was talked down, put into custody and taken to a hospital for an evaluation,
The SigAlert was canceled about 10 minutes later and traffic began moving again, the CHP said.
