A brush fire about 50 feet above Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu burned about two acres Saturday evening before firefighters stopped its progress.

The fire was reported about 8:25 p.m. in a half-acre of medium fuel in the 18900 block of West Pacific Coast Highway, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.

Ground crews and water-dropping helicopters quickly attacked the blaze, fire officials said. Forward progress was reported stopped at 9:10 p.m.

PCH was closed in both directions between Big Rock Drive and Topanga Canyon Boulevard, Malibu Emergency Services said.
