A motorist in a disabled car — with the vehicle’s lights off– suffered major injuries Sunday when his Honda Accord was struck by another Honda Accord in the carpool lane of the Pomona (60) Freeway in Pomona.
The crash on the westbound freeway, east of Garey Avenue, occurred at 1:33 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
A 2007 Honda Accord crashed into a 2002 Honda Accord stalled in the carpool lane.
The 42-year-old driver of the 2002 Honda, a resident of Downey, was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center with major injuries to both legs and his head.
The driver of the 2007 Honda, suffering from minor injuries, was also taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
It was not immediately known why the first Accord was stalled in the carpool lane. Alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash, the CHP said.
